Off David Guetta’s latest album, “Hey Mama” features Nicki Minaj and was co-produced with Afrojack. The track is the fourth single off Listen, and is the third collaboration between David Guetta and Nicki Minaj, after “Where Them Girls At” and “Turn Me On”.
Nicki raps the verses and sings along with Bebe Rexha on the chorus, who co-wrote the song. The fact that Bebe Rexha is uncredited on this track is unforgivable, not unlike the time my high school yearbook “forgot” to credit me in the Senior Superlatives with “Most Attractive.”
…they did forget, right?
David Guetta recently released the lead single from his upcoming album, Listen, out November 24th. “Dangerous” features Sam Martin (also the vocalist on Guetta’s “Lovers on the Sun“) and a wide range of instrumentation: piano, strings, and orchestral effects. In an interview with Billboard, Guetta gushed about his new hairstyle saying, “it’s completely different from anything I’ve done before.”
No? That’s about the direction of his new album? Oh.
I assumed he was speaking about his sassy ombre locks.
“Lovers on the Sun” is David Guetta’s latest single, off of his Lovers on the Sun EP. The song is co-produced by Avicii and features his signature country/folk-infused EDM.
I wonder if they call people who get married outdoors in Texas during summertime “lovers on the sun”?
…no, probably just “dummies.”
David Guetta and Skyley Grey recently teamed up to record a EDM rendition of the Cher/Nancy Sinatra song, “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” famously in the movie Kill Bill Vol. 1.
While doing a little research on this song, I came across this story that the two agreed to work together and then, upon meeting face-to-face for the first time, Guetta said to Grey, “oh, you’re not fat and ugly we can keep you on the song.”
Oh David, what a quaintly European thing to say. Here in America, we skip that troublesome step of keeping a hideous calliope out of sight, and simply forbid pop-singers to be unattractive in any way, so of course Skyler isn’t an uggo.
Rihanna has released her summer dance anthem, “Right Now,” and it does not disappoint. “Right Now,” is about living in the moment, and doing what makes you happy right now.
Huh, that’s funny, suddenly I have the strongest desire for ice cream…
Floating unofficially around radio and cyber-space is a new Akon, Pitbull, David Guetta collaboration, “That Na Na.” Akon & Pitbull lay vocals over a big room house track, which is an amazing addition, or a terrible mistake, depending how you like your dance music.
Either way, this song reinforces Akon’s Song Writing Adage: If you can’t think of intelligent lyrics, just use ‘na na na‘s.
David Guetta reunites with Sia for “She Wolf.” Unfortunately this song is no “Titanium,” so it probably won’t erase the repulsive “She Wolf” song Shakira left in our collective subconscious…
